Cricket ???? See if this encourages you to be on ground next time !!!!

Boy oh boy...what a day it was to play cricket...and what a contest wet had in both matches...in spite of the wet outfield on the long-on area...everyone was so much on the field to put their 100% as if we were playing a real match..

 We had few new players : Ruchik,Vikram,Amit. We welcome them all...keep coming..

 We started around 7:50 with about 12 people on the ground. and then people started pouring in (yes...). By the time it was all done, we had 16 in total..still below our record turnout...Anand keep a record !!!
Match 1:

 Team A : Abhijeet, Manoj,Venkat,Ruchik,Vikram,Rajesh,Pankaj,Rohin
Team B : Arvind,Vivek,Dharmendra,Ram,Chandru,Pratik,Amit,Siddharth

 Team a won the toss and decided to bat(surprsing !!!). It was a 14 over match in the end. The start was good and slow and the runs were coming at a regular inteval. Excellent batting by Venkat, Rajesh, Pankaj allowed the score to reach 88.

Team B fumbled and eventually lost by about 17 or so runs. Sorry guys, I don't remember details so don't want to put incorrect information..we need Anand to do a detailed commentary...

 Match 2:

 Team A : Abhijeet, Manoj,Ruchik,Vikram,Rajesh,Pankaj,Rohin
Team B : Venkat,Vivek,Ram,Chandru,Pratik,Amit,Siddharth
One change for this match : Venkat moved to team B as Arvind and Dharmendra have to leave.

 This match was started as 10 overs per side but team B were tattering to 17 in 5 overs with only Siddharth as the last man, So the it was further reduced to 8 overs. He put his best efforts and the score reached to 28.

 It was 29 from 8 overs for the team who scored 88 in the first match. Easy one right....but team B had something different in mind. All their bowlers were so determined to not give runs an take wickets that team A was all out in 24 runs....

 There were two superb catches that should be mentioned. Both were on the ON side. Both were at square leg : Amit picked the low flick off the bat of Ram at forward short leg. It was a must to see the catch. Everyone was so amazed by the refelexes and agility, that Amit got applaud and laughs at the same time. The other one was at backward square leg. It was typical Rohin style : Jumping in the air, picking the ball with both hands. This time the batsman was Pankaj.

Hi, I quickly wanted to acknowledge our awesome outing this past Sunday. We played 2 very entertaining matches. Both the teams won a game, so basically everybody went home smiling. The weather wasn't too bad when we started, the cloud cover didn't make us sweat and the going was pleasant. But this good fortune lasted only a match a half and midway through the game Sun came out firing on all cylinders. But still it wasn't too bad and totally worth it.

High Drama At Alton Athletic Park

Everytime I write this paragraph I think how the weather will be next time, will it be better than what we experienced today? You can be rest assured that the weather that we had  this past Sunday’s was amazing. It just cannot be beat. The sun came out exactly at 9:30 AM when we started the second game. The sky was gray with no trace of white and the sun was nowhere to be seen. It was slightly nippy, but perfect for a game of cricket. We could just keep on bowling and running and yet not have a bead of sweat run down our forehead. I guess this is how it must feel at Lords playing in the English weather  (I have been rehearsing this line since I left the ground on Sunday … I had to say it!). The weather wasn’t overshadowed without a reason, for we had a dispute in the first match, where the result came under much scrutiny. Another Interesting Match

Going by the discussion on Whatsapp the match promised to be interesting to say the least, if not a nerve-wrecker like last time. This past Sunday IW were again pitted against their homegrown rivals CG. With the help of few of their friends the 'CG' faction was determined to settle the score once and for all and show the world which was the superior team. Not to be left behind , IW was all ready for whatever CH had in store for them. With this as the background players from both the teams slowly started gathering at the venue. The excitement was too much for Ram to stay at home and wait for the lock to tick to 7, who was the first one to arrive.
